Sunday 26th July 1964; Members of the Stella Maris Rowing Club in Dublin, make presentations to the principal rescuers of Seaman Jimmy Whelan off Kerryhead. In front, presenting the gifts are Tommy Tyrell, brother of the victim Seaman John Tyrell, and Paddy Whelan, brother of the rescued man. Immediately behind are the heroes, Patrick O'Connor, Sargeant William McCarthy and Timothy Casey. The group at the rear includes: D. Tracey, J. Moore, R. Sheehy, W. McCarthy, S. Purcell, D. Quinn, S. Nolan, R. Manley, S. Quinn, M. Purcell and J. Corcoran. The photo was taken outside the Imperial Hotel, Denny Street, Tralee.
