

Contractor Joe C Keating
October 1965; Caherciveen contractor Joe C. Keating (right), lifts Transatlantic cable on his 100 ft Salvage Adventurer. Joe bought the ship to pick up 300 miles of telegraph cable in Ballinskelligs Bay. His company, The Salvage Company of Ireland, started by lifting the Commercial Cable Company of Waterville Cable Links to World Service. The cable was composed of raw rubber, electrolytic copper, and steel.
