20th August 1967; Skin diver Manuel di Lucia, who did a Houdini act at Tarbert in the interests of road safety. Kilkee resident di Lucia, aged 25, escaped from a car at the bottom of Tarbert Harbour 115 seconds after it had been dropped into the water.
