The "Shannon Heather" Ferry

29th May 1969; Austin Stack (left) on the "Shannon Heather" car ferry when it made its historic maiden voyage from the slipway at Killimer, Co. Clare, across the Shannon Estuary to Tarbert. On board were officials and tourist representatives from Clare, Kerry and Limerick. The ferry was officially opened by the Minister for Labour, Dr Patrick Hillery.
