Fire Arms Found At Farmer's Bridge
1st September 1962: A dump containing two Lee Enfield Rifles, a Webley Revolver and about 80 rounds of ammunition was found at Poulawaddra, Farmer's Bridge. The discovery was made during one of the most intensive searches ever carried out by the Gardai in the country. The search was led by Supt E Mc Donnell. The dump was found by Garda Tim O' Rourke in a large sewer pipe built into a stone fence dividing two farms. About 80 Gardaí armed with mine detectors, probing bars and shovels began a five square mile search from Ballyseedy Memorial to the Sliabh Mish Mountain where they found gelignite. It was believed the find had to do with a shooting that took place in the Ballyseedy Area.
