A Helicopter Rescue in Valentia

28th December 1965; The Valentia Lifeboat removed a critically ill seaman in a very heavy swell from an American Freight five miles North West of Valentia, and rushed him to Knightstown. Charlie Humphrey, from New York, was taken by stretcher to Mrs. Burke's Field where a helicopter landed and took him to St. Laurence's Hospital in Dublin for an emergency brain operation.
