

Bill Verity in Fenit
13th July 1966; Harbour Master Tim Barrett (centre) in Fenit on the day Atlantic Sailor Bill Verity arrived on his boat, the 'Nonoalca' to Fenit. Mr Verity, a 40 year old Irish American from Florida, crossed the Atlantic alone in the 12 foot boat, that he built himself, setting the record for the smallest boat to cross the Atlantic. Leaving Florida on the 8th May, the 4,500 mile journey took 65 days.
