Ardfert Parish Schools Strike
15th January 1968; Miss Mary McElligott and Mr Brendan O'Shea outside Banna School during the lunchtime break. Banna was one of the Ardfert Parish schools that were temporarily closed due to inadequate heating and unsanitary conditions. The five schools were: Ardfert, Banna, Barrow, Kilmoyley and Tubrid.
