

Roger Casement Memorial Ceremony
3rd August 1969; Roger Casement and Robert Monteith were remembered in a ceremony at their memorial in Banna. The occasion was the 53rd anniversary of the execution of Casement for his contribution to the movement for Irish Freedom. The ceremony took place on the plinth of the statue erected at Banna in 1967, not far from the spot where Casement, Monteith and Baily came ashore from a German submarine prior to the Easter Rising of 1916.
