A New Cemetary in Castleisland

8th May 1966; The Fleadh Cheoil in Castleisland opens with a Commemorative Mass in the Church of Saints Stephen and John for the men who gave their lives in the Fight for Freedom. The Mass was celebrated by the Reverend Daniel J McSweeney and was attended by a Guard of Honour of the FCA, under the Command of Lieutenant Gerald Landers. After Mass, a parade and the general public moved off towards the new cemetary where an oration was delivered at the Republican Plot by Dr R C Shanahan.
