Coal At Tralee Station

25th January 1963; A photo taken at Tralee station after the last steam engine left Tralee station for Cork, driven by Thomas Devane. The Locomotive was the only remaining steam engine at Tralee and had been used for shunting purposes. Thr Fireman on the trip was John Nolan and and the engine was waved off by the Station Master P.M. Carroll and district Superintendent Harry Costello. A C.I.E. spokesman said that the transfer to Cork was part of the company's plan to use diesel engines.
