A New Cemetary in Castleisland

8th May 1966; The Fleadh Cheoil in Castleisland opens with a Commemorative Mass in the Church of SS. Stephen and John's for the men who gave their lives in the Fight for Freedom. The Mass was celebrated by the Reverend Daniel J. McSweeney and was attended by a Guard of Honour of the FCA, under the Command of Lieutenant Gerald Landers. After Mass, a parade and the general public moved off towards the new cemetary where an oration was delivered at the Republican Plot by Dr. R. C. Shanahan.
