

The Killorglin Carnegie School Tour
31st May 1965; Children from the Carnegie school in Killorglin on the first leg of their school tour. They took a coach to Killarney, boarded the 8:30 a.m. train to Dublin, had lunch at the CIE Club, took a Boeing Jet from Dublin to Shannon, toured the Shannon Industrial Zone, had high tea in Limerick and another CIE coach took them to Killorglin. The cost of the trip was 3 Pounds 10 Shillings per child. On the right of the photo is Mr Joseph Dwyer, Headmaster of the school, who supervised the children on the tour. On the left is District Manager of CIE Mr. Paddy Hannigan, who organised the tour for 29 children. This was the first time air travel was introduced to CIE Tours.
